Hawaiian Pink Plumeria


"Hawaiian Pink Plumeria"

The plumeria is a popular flower in Hawai’i, with many uses. People use plumeria for leis, as a decoration in hotels & homes, and women like to take wear them in their hair, or put one behind an ear. In Hawai’i, if you wear a flower behind your right ear it means you’re single/available, while one behind your left ear means you’re taken/married.

Newest painting

"Picasso Triggerfish"

The early Hawaiians considered the Picasso triggerfish particularly beautiful. We know this today because it has a long Hawaiian name. (Traditionally, the longer the name, the more beautiful the object was considered). To this day, locals call the fish by it’s Hawaiian name, Humuhumunukunukuapua’a. Most locals know how to pronounce the name because it is Hawai’i's state fish.

Children News

"Children's Portrait"

Day to day life and painting projects have kept Esperance busy lately. Esperance and Theresa recently welcomed a new member to their family – Elijah Rakotonirina on August 11. Esperance has also had numerous requests for paintings, including this portrait. He worked on this painting for some time – capturing the likeness of the children and the details in the setting.
